Contraception methods that do not work at all

Family Planning = Used to get pregnant not used to NOT get pregnant
Withdrawal = male controlled, and pre-ejaculate
Abstinence = you have to do it

Low Level Contraceptions

Condoms = male controlled, must use at time of intercorse, + STI protection
Diaphragm = female controlled, ahead of time, + STI protection
Spericide, sponges, caps = No STI protection

Morning after pill

Levangesterol
No harm to current pregnancy
Not abortive factor
Must take within 72 hrs to prevent pregnancy

Moderate level Contraceptions

Injections = depo-provera, every 3 months
Patches = E + P , ortho-eura, increase risk of DVT/PE, 1 month
Rings = E + P, Nuva-ring, vaginally inserted, 1 month
OCP’s = E + P, always correct, path: dysfunction uterine bleeding and for chorio, daily compliance
Mini Pills = Progesteron only, must take everyday BY THE HOUR

LARCs

High efficacy
Non IUD
- – Explanon and implanon = under skin of arm 3yrs
IUD
- – Hormonal = E + P, decreased bleeding, 5yrs
- – Copper = no hormones, increases bleeding, 10yrs

Non-resversible contraception

Males = vasectomy
Females = Tubal ligation (during C-section ectopic), TAH
