Contraception methods that do not work at all
- Family Planning = Used to get pregnant not used to NOT get pregnant
- Withdrawal = male controlled, and pre-ejaculate
- Abstinence = you have to do it
Low Level Contraceptions
- Condoms = male controlled, must use at time of intercorse, + STI protection
- Diaphragm = female controlled, ahead of time, + STI protection
- Spericide, sponges, caps = No STI protection
Morning after pill
- Levangesterol
- No harm to current pregnancy
- Not abortive factor
- Must take within 72 hrs to prevent pregnancy
Moderate level Contraceptions
- Injections = depo-provera, every 3 months
- Patches = E + P , ortho-eura, increase risk of DVT/PE, 1 month
- Rings = E + P, Nuva-ring, vaginally inserted, 1 month
- OCP’s = E + P, always correct, path: dysfunction uterine bleeding and for chorio, daily compliance
- Mini Pills = Progesteron only, must take everyday BY THE HOUR
