Nipple Discharge

• Most common cause of unilateral non-bloody nipple discharge: Intraductal papilloma
• First diagnosis considered if the history describes bilateral nipple discharge: Prolactinoma
• Bloody or nonbloody nipple discharge most likely: malignancy

Breast Mass

• Steps in the diagnosis of any patient with a breast mass:
  • 1. Clinical breast examination
    
  • 2. Imaging (UTZ or mammogram)
    
  • 3. FNAB
• Clinical breast exam in 6 weeks:
  • Appropriate follow-up for a cystic breast mass that disappears after FNA

Fibrocystic Disease

• Presentation:
  • a woman age 20-50 with cyclical, bilateral painful breast lump(s)
• Management:
  • OCPs

Fibroadenoma

• Presentation:
  • a discrete, firm, nontender, and highly mobile breast nodule.
• Diagnosis:
  • a mass that’s highly mobile on clinical exam.

Intraductal papilloma

• Diagnosis:
  • Mammogram
    
  • Surgical duct excision (definitive)
